Before you start designing your garment, go over the most common knitting materials and which ones are the best suited for your project. Then, learn basic knitting techniques and study the anatomy of a stitch to easily recognize each type and know when to use them while knitting.
Sketch your idea based on different sources of inspiration and analyze the structure of your garment, keeping age-related characteristics in mind. Find out which measurements are key to calculating the perfect size and how to convert those measurements into stitches and rows.
Now it’s time to knit your kimono step by step: start with the back, continue with the sleeves, and finish with the two front pieces. Apply the concepts you’ve learned so far and discover the secrets to giving your garment the right shape. I will also share some tips and tricks at each stage of the process to help you achieve professional results.
Once you’ve knitted all the pieces, sew them together with invisible seams along the sides and the bottom of the sleeves. I will teach you how to weave in loose ends and shows you how to add details and decorate your kimono to give it a unique look.
