In the last post, where we learned to make a knitted Sailor Baby Romper, I told you that it was a very versatile pattern that could be altered into something very different by simply changing the colors of the yarn or adding a motive. As they say the proof is in the pudding, today I could not wait to show you another project made using the same pattern, a knitted Watermelon Romper that makes you want to eat it!

To knit this refreshing Watermelon Romper I used the same yarn as the Sailor Romper, the cotton yarn Essentials Cotton DK from Rico Design, but his time in 68 Azalea (I liked it so much that I used it again), 45 Emerald and 80 White. As I told you before, it is a very cool cotton, perfect for the summer months, that has been tested and retested.

The shade of green that you choose may vary within the range of greens, but it is important that the watermelon color is as closer to the color of a watermelon as possible so that it is a little more realistic. This Azalea tone by Rico Design is a perfect coral for this project in question.

To embroider the seeds of the watermelon I used embroidery thread in black color, and do not worry if they are not perfect and some come out bigger than others nothing in this life is perfect! And the watermelons either

This pattern of Watermelon Romper is available in size new born, 1-3 months, 3-6 months,6-12 months, and 12-24 months. You can find all the downloadable and printable patterns, by clicking here or on the button below.

By the way, once the garment was finished, I decided that I liked it better with the white stripe knitted in garter stitch, and this is how it is reflected in the PDF Patterns. If you prefer the result as it appears in the photos, just continue knitting the white stripe in stockinette stitch, like the rest of the romper.

You can see the effect of the white stripe knitted in garter stitch on the SANDIA Cardigan, and thus, decide how you like it better 😉 .

As you can see my girl has already used it and it has turned many heads!

I’m dying to see your projects made with this pattern, be it the Sailor Romper, the Watermelon Romper or your own interpretation of the pattern.
